Might be able to see those brake pads!

RotARy15 03-05-2021 07:13 PM

Any info on first year brakes/Performance Pack? All I'm seeing are minivan brakes on the press models.

I have the PP Brembo brakes, not that impressive . . . just go aftermarket.

cant wait to test drive one! maybe i'll fall in love all over again?? the interior, while plain looking, it is nice (maybe that's why its nice?) i like that they spiced up the hvac controls just a little and kept those toggle switches. plus ive never had a car with a full digital gauge cluster so that will be fun to see.

Why do the north American spec cars have the recessed exhaust tips compared to euro models?

Since swapping back to the stock catback, that has been bothering me the most.

Bubble wrap is my guess...Recess them so people don't burn their legs. These would be cool

At $1200 already installed, they're a great deal vs. aftermarket. Even at $2k with $800 2-piece front rotors I got to replace the heavy stockers, IMO still a great deal. What don't you like about them? Mine feel pretty great with stock pads on the street, and with CSG Spec2 at the track.

The more pics I see of it in WRB, the more it's growing on me...

scuzzy 03-06-2021 03:13 PM

Hey ZDan, My Brembo pads started squealing after only 4,000 miles (street -- daily driver). I came out of an 05 wrx completely stock which I drove for 13 years and those basic brakes seemed to work better (and the pads lasted longer) that the bigger STi brembos on this car.

Lantanafrs2 03-06-2021 03:30 PM

Part of me wishes they would've done a real refresh of the last gen and kept the original styling intact.

Huh, '18 must have gone to different pad compound, mine have never squealed at all, and I'm coming up on 50k miles on the car. They do make a slight grinding noise but not excessive.

But anyway, easy enough to get different pads if you don't like stock ones. WAY cheaper to do that than to forego the PP and buy a whole aftermarket big brake kit front and rear!

I have a 19 PP, I find they squeal a lot when driving around town
with lots of stop & Go with very slight pressure but thats the
untold feature with them. Generally they dont squeal much.
Besides them being perfectly color matched to a Pure Red the
extra sound gets the neighbours kid off my driveway in a hurry
when I come home. :D
If it bugs you a lot check out youtube for easy fixes for Big brakes
before you go looking for different pads.
