Oil filter housing
I was changing my oil filter and saw an area that looked weird in the oil filter housing. I took a picture and used a blue arrow to point to the area. I have a 2017 BRZ stock.
Is this normal? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...8ae517425e.jpg |
yep. normal. both my 2014's had it.
you can clean it out, but it's just a divot in the casting. |
Sorry car is totaled.
My I suggest a new Honda Civic Si? You'll have more power righ off the bat. And remarkable better handling. You heard me right. It is better than a Miata. And they don't have that silly drain hole for accidental oil over spills on your 86. They use a traditional under the car oil filler that gets in the way of other suspension parts and makes a mess. Sorry for your loss. |
It is not totaled, you just need to get a drill bit and a little bigger than that imperfection and drill it out.

If you mount a Subaru oil to water oil cooler you'll find that the cooler body has a small tab on the face that mounts to the engine. The tab goes in that slot. It keeps the cooler body from spinning when you remove the oil filter.
