[RESOLVED] Very Strange Gear Indication Issue

Hi Everyone, long time lurker first time poster.

Recently got a set of UELs + an Invidia Q300 & and Ecutek dyno tune by a reputable local tuner where I live. Everything seems great except for one quirk that popped up after the tune:

When shifting into 5th gear, most of the time, now the gear indicator on the dash does not provide a number, or after some thinking indicates 4th! This happens only for 5th (all other gears fine), and the actual gear engagement feels fine, just the number displayed.

What seems exceptionally strange to me is mys understanding is that this cant be a sensor issue, as the gear indicaiton isnt from a position sensor, but instead is software calculated from speedo & tacho measurements, to find the ratio.

Obviously ive had no gearbox or final drive changes, so this seems weird.

Does anyone have any idea of what may be wrong or troubleshooting steps? is this some kind of software bug?

Things ive tried:
- checking OBD2 diagnostic error codes (none)
- shifted up and down into 5th, at different speeds, fast & slow with the clutch.
- Turned the car off and on
- reset the dash settings & turned off and on the gear speed indication.

2017 86 GTS with the LCD screen in the dash.

Thanks in advance, all ideas welcome!

Edit: problem was resolved by the tuner reflashing the same tune again. May have just been a corruption.

Yup, stock 17 inch rims & tyres. Hasnt changed before/after the tune.

Apparently there's a table in the tune which calculates the intended gear position, you can find more details around here but the tuner has to adjust that.

I vaguely remember something about that.
But WHY would someone even mess with the table at all if the car has a stock drivetrain.

I'd go to the tuner at this point and ask him to check that for you.

Probably started from a tune that was based off a different final drive, but who knows. At the very least, the problem can be easily solved with the tuner.

Def the final drive table values:

You've never tried to go from 6th to 7th?

Thanks everyone, will ask the tuner to check the tables etc and report back!

I totally forgot about mine. I turned it on once, but replaced the battery since then and I forgot how you even turn it on now.

I turned it on for about an hour, played Shift Hero by trying to hit the light right on, got bored, turned it off.
