Blinkers not automatically cancelling
Hi all,
I have a small issue with my indicator stalk. When i turn right (with the blinkers on), most of the time the stalk dosnt cancel (it has to go past the center for it to click off automatically), meaning i have to manually cancel it most of the time. When i turn left however, it cancels almost instantaneously. It feels like the stalk is 'imbalanced' or something. Does anyone have any idea why this could be and how to fix it? Would be good to know if someone can upload a diagram of an indicator stalk so i can get a better understanding of how it works. Thanks |
Are you the original owner?
Sounds like a clock spring issue. Usually happens when someone removes the steering wheel and doesn't reassemble correctly. |
Im the second owner, i have a feeling its a clock spring issue too. The original owner had to replace the airbags as he got into a fender accident, so what you're saying makes sense.
EDIT: Would i also need to buy another steering angle sensor? or would i be able to use the one i currently have? |
most likely would need to get it recalibrated at the least.

Oh, I have that problem all the time - it doesn't matter which direction I have turned or which car I drive - :iono:

Thanks ill keep that in mind :)

UPDATE:
Turns out the previous owner didnt install the clock spring correctly. it wasnt lined up at top dead centre, but now when i drive the abs and traction control light comes up. Would this be the steering angle sensor that needs to be recalibrated? |
