P0018 following valve spring recall | Turbocharged FRS

Hoping to find some clearer answers here. But all advice / feedback is appreciated.

Long story short, my vehicle has been turbocharged for a little over 2 years. A few seasons ago the seals went out on the turbo and I decided to drop my vehicle off for the valve spring recall while the turbocharger was being serviced.

The turbo is now fixed but I've been stuck with a P0018 CEL ever since I've had the car back.

The warranty period for the recall work has expired and the reps at Toyota were pretty rude.

I had the tuner check the cam / vvt angles and he said they're fine / close enough to OEM that they wouldn't be causing issues.
I've already replaced the camshaft position sensor and VVT solenoid for the drivers side intake cam.

Not sure if I need to look into replacing the computer or take the timing cover off first.

Thank you

These are the 5 things that cause this code:
• Valve timing
• Camshaft timing oil control valve ASSY LH (intake side)
• Oil control valve filter (bank 2)

• Intake cam sprocket (bank 2)
• ECM

I would guess it is one of the 2 Green items.

Check the signal from the Camshaft timing oil control valve ASSY LH (intake side) to the ECM, if no signal replace the Camshaft timing oil control valve ASSY LH (intake side). If still no signal there is an issue in the harness (usually between the ECM and the engine harness) that will need to be repaired.

That's what I replaced already, the VVT solenoid.

Check for signal to ECM, if none trace back until you find the issue (short). If you have signal you have eliminated those 2 items and can continue to the next 3.
