Raceseng spring perch hitting underside of strut tower
Have the Raceseng CasCam - Caster + Camber Plates on our BRZ for the last four years and everything was fine until I moved the car after it was sitting for a few weeks (prior to that it was at the track). Rest of the suspension is stock.
In the short drive there is a very loud metallic bang coming from the top of the right front suspension whenever the right tire went over any uneven pavement. Doing quick aggressive left-right to load up the suspension does not duplicate the issue. Looked underneath, can clearly see that the spring perch is making contact to the underside of the strut tower. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...1591eeb0_b.jpg Any thoughts on what failed or what else I can check? |
That's not the strut tower, that's the camber plate. I had a similar issue, probably solved by a small spacer between the spring perch and the conical lower thingy and then moving your lower spring perch the same amount to compensate.
Or eventually it will create enough clearance on its own. imho this is a very small issue and I bet if you contact raceseng they could provide a simple spacer or updated spring perch adapter thingy for a very modest fee. Edit, make sure all bolts are tight |
Yes you're right, camber plate, not sure why I thought that was the strut tower. Plan on checking all the bolts tomorrow.

You might have an older release.
They released a bushing that spaced it correctly. I've had the original and the updated bushings. Contact them directly and they will know what you need. Edit, I forgot I had a picture....the bottom one in the attached picture is what you need. |
Thanks, did reach out to them and they are sending me the revised ones.
Great customer service from Raceseng! |
