Question about Sport Mode on 2013-2016
So I haven’t looked in the manual, and I haven’t searched, but I wanted to get some info from the experts on here. I trust you guys more than other sources. [emoji28]
In pre facelift twins, what exactly are the different traction modes for? There is a VSC Sport button, and a Traction Off button (the one with the pic of the car with squiggly lines under the tires). When I press Sport button one time I get a Sport and VSC Off indicator on the dash. I’m assuming that’s just level 1? If I try to hold the Sport button down, nothing else happens. If I’m in Sport mode and I hit the Trac Off button it removes the VSC Off indicator on the dash? I think?? Please explain what the button presses do. [emoji38] I only ever hit the Sport mode button, and I can tell it allows a little more slip and won’t cut the throttle as quickly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
These are indeed mysteries of Science , and these are the days of our lives.
Traction control I've found is nice/best in wet weather , less likely for the rear wheels to slip ... so I'm pretty sure it engages the LSD more so. However where I live most of the year I tend to want to take Traction control off , yet it never fails that after 1-3 minutes of driving ... some way, some how the traction control engages itself automatically!! How to stop this from happening ?? |
Should we tell him about the pedal dance?

From what I understand VSC controls the car swerving from side to side. And Traction control just involves how much the rear tires spin. I think the safety systems kick back on if things get too wild, no matter what mode is selected. Because Toyota’s lawyers say so. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I would be interested to hear how the car reacts if you disable everything, but I won’t do it myself. [emoji1] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

At least I was honest that I made no attempt to search [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Oh and I wanted to edit my original post. When in Sport mode it indicates VSC Sport on the dash, not VSC Off.

This was great! And that white FR-S looks good!! [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106] So Sport Mode is considered Stage 2? It’s clear VSC Off is the way to go [emoji16][emoji16] I’m guessing that was on stock tires also Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I’m saving this, thanks. Is Mode 5 on the 2016 after the pedal dance? Basically everything turned off? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
