“Brake malfunction”

4 Attachment(s)
Hello all, hope all is well.

A couple of days again I returned from the store and aired my car out to run inside, I spent about an hour inside or so until I went back to the car and got in, I immediately noticed my breaks where stiff and my brake lights would not turn on, I tried starting again and this time I was told by the gauge cluster I had a “brake malfunction” ABS light, power steering, and when I turned the car off, another message popped up and said “check access system with electric key”

I’ve look everywhere and can’t find the answer or the reason why it’s doing this, I’ve replaced fuses, swapped batteries with a friend, and as I type this Im restarting the ECU. I even replaced the battery in my key fob as well as the brake light switch and still no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and have a great day

Was it throwing a CEL? You could try a code reader.

It unfortunately won’t produce enough power for me to plug in my Code reader

Sounds like the issue right there. Time to check your battery and alternator, your car should have enough juice to power an OBD2 reader. If they're good you've got some gremlins in your electricals.

Hello Kitsube and welcome to our forum -

Sounds like you got a BIG electrical problem.

Is your car still under warranty?

When you left your car to "air out" for an hour, did you leave it running?

Did you check the two big fuses on the battery terminal?

If you have a volt meter, what does the battery read?

Did you clean the battery terminals?

I'd suggest you put your battery on a battery charger for a spell.

Come back.

Ahhhh, it’s weird because I can hear the clicking in the engine bay, the dash, AC, clock light and other things still turn on in the car, just won’t let me start it

Car is still under warranty however I’ve done some aftermarket things to it and the last time I took it to the dealership, they made a big deal about it

After I aired out, I turned the car off

One of the fuses on the battery looks blown, could that be it?

Yep, that could be it.

I suggest you replace it and see if the car rights itself -

What do you mean when you say “aired out”?
Yep a blown battery fuse would be an issue. The bigger question is what blew the fuse?
What mods have you done? Anything recent?

Hey Kitsube, why are you chasing the fault, isn't the car still under a warranty? If it drives I would take it straight to the dealer and if it doesn't drive then get the dealer to pick it up..

Car is still under warranty, however I’ve don’t a lot of aftermarket stuff in terms of engine modifications and cosmetics so I don’t want to trip, if I can fix it for cheaper then that’s what

I had done some mods to my car during its life under the manufacturer's warranty period. I had no issues getting stuff sorted under the warranty. Mind you, there wasn't a lot of stuff to sort, battery died and valve recall. I even had the dealer install Group N engine mounts when they sorted the valves, they did it for zero labour cost.

Nice dealer...
