But as a daily truck, that impacts emissions. The rare motorcycle ride or canyon ride in a sports car isn’t impactful like a gas guzzling daily suv.

So do sports cars, compared to something that gets twice the gas mileage.

I understand what your are saying and don't fully disagree with you. My "complaint" is the stereotype of truck owners as people that should be driving a Prius but drive a truck instead. Those are more rare than most folks think, at least in my area of the world.

Oh, and EV trucks (at least the current generation) aren't going to help that much for those that actually use their trucks as trucks because of the correlation of load to range.

All the posers, or very casual truck users, should convert immediately.

Renting is practical when it's a once or twice a year thing. It isn't if you are doing it multiple times a month.

Trucks don't have to be expensive, it's just that's the way most folks buy them these days (all decked out). A base Colorado is @$30K and a based Silverado is @$39K.

I agree with you on both counts.

You absolutely should be able to buy whatever vehicle you want regardless of its use. It's yours to enjoy as you will.

And you definitely should have base model and lower model options that can do what you need also. I've got a 2020 base 86 and I'm sure I'd buy a base model of any car I look for. Base models now have more features than any luxury car 20 years ago. It's wild what you can get for base prices nowadays.

As Americans we can buy what we want whether it pleases quasi intellectual pinhead or not. If others don't approve they can stage peaceful protests or deface valuable artwork lol

^Only if you wear a mask while driving alone.

Perfect. In my state I can carry a concealed weapon, drive a catless vehicle while eating a bacon barbecue cheeseburger. All God given rights. Flicking boogers is a bonus.

It's not an exaggeration but admittedly is an educated guess. I do live in a relatively rural area (many of my coworkers own multi-acre homes in West Georgia and East Alabama). Most of them are hunters, fisherman, farmers or ranchers, "horse people", etc besides their daytime jobs.

Move 30 miles East (Atlanta) it would change of course but the makeup of the vehicles changes as well.

This would be more unique than what the statistics on truck/SUV use suggest, which is where the stereotypes come from. Stereotypes come from what is common, but is not ubiquitous of course.

What do you mean by not going to help much? You mean it’ll lose its utility because it would need to recharge often due to the low range with loads, or are you trying to say something else?

I would say that the statistics on towing, show most campers and boaters who tow don’t go far like 15-30 miles, so towing won’t be a huge issue for even the vast majority of towers and haulers. Few will truly have problems with EV trucks as-is for 99% of their days or better. Long haulers would be the rare exception.

It is illegal to drive catless in Florida or any state because it is a federal law. Many in California drive catless cars illegally too and are legally registered in smog exempt or emission tested counties. Many have concealed guns illegally or legally. Many eat bacon cheeseburgers while driving and smoking weed.

God given rights? I don’t know about rights or that some god gave them to you, but in any society, by living in that society, you must live within the rules or face consequences. You can’t just do whatever you want. If I want to drive a turbo diesel in bumper to bumper traffic coal-rolling the whole time, or if lots of people wanted to do that, so much so, that it was hard to see, let alone breathe around such vehicles, then I would be impeding on others.

Seems like some people just feel more entitled and don’t play well with society.

It's towing, and it is also bed load. I don't know what stats you're looking at but nobody I know that tows something goes 60 miles round trip as an average. Even with that the range on a Ford Lightning, for example, drops to just around 120 miles with a moderate load based on everything I've seen. So, at highway speeds you are stopping less than every 90 miles to charge.

Problem not solved.

Sports cars / performance cars can run catless, their percentage is not that big, so they should be smog exempt anyway:P
