Does a stock GT86 auto NEED a launch control? - :iono:

Isn't that what a torque convertor is for?

Well, on second thought, maybe it could benefit from this type of "launch control" - :D

Its the only way to beat minivans off the line.

It's only "needed" for setting 0-60 times and other boy racer activities, but it would be nice to have. You can approximate it with brake/rev action but it's not 100% as it's a very small sweet spot before the car tries to outthink you.

I've often wondered, given the AT will do 0-60 in second rather than 3rd like the MT, how much closer it would be with launch control. As I recall, although I couldn't find it, the rolling start 05-60 tests of both AT and MT were very close around 7.7 seconds.

You just need to learn how to do it and why not to do it.

I would imagine if the auto had launch control it would be a little faster to 60 than the MT.
The twins with a DSG type transmission would be fun. Volkswagen can put one in the GTI (and has for over 14 years) T/S should be able to in the twins. It’s not that exotic any more.

Hey folks, please excuse my ignorance but does an AT spin the wheels if launched hard? If not then what is the point of launch control?

Headers, tune and AT, spin my all seasons easily. The Michelin PS4S not as much, but they will spin as well. Would love to put some really crappy tires on the rear one day for fun.

When I first got the car I would chirp the Prius tires almost at every stop without trying.

Cool! Now I get the launch control question.
