Hey all, anyone else had this happen? What could it be, how do I fix it?

That is acid vapor coming out from the breather vents and coming in contact with the aluminum tiedown making aluminum sulfate. Wash it off then use baking soda to neutralize the acid wash again, dry, and coat with a battery spray from an auto parts store.
Watch and wash as needed.

you might dip the ground lead in white vinegar for an hour.

batteries start gassing when the voltage drops below 12.4. you might purchase a sealed battery or one with a vent tube (and route the tube outside the engine bay)

Clean up the terminals and apply dielectric grease to them, that’ll keep the battery from producing the blue crap under the positive terminal. It’ll help with the white/gray powder you’re seeing too, but that’s mostly a sign of undercharging. Check the voltage across the terminals when the car is off. If it’s under 12.5V, charge the battery.

:slap: and put the cover back on the positive side when you're done

We live in such an imperfect world. No system is ever completely contained. No part that lasts forever. We have to constantly evolve to move forward. It is even said that order only comes from creating more chaos somewhere else.

mine broke off within the first week of owning the car. i feel that this makes it easier to view all of the fuses.

Damn. My car has had the engine out 4 times, battery has been out several times, and it doesn't have a scratch on it.
I mean, it takes 2 seconds to pull off, and conversely doesn't look great without it on there. But, I see your perspective :)

it had something to do with adding a 4 ga wire for an amplifier, so it didn't just randomly break, but shouldn't have cracked the way it did with the minimal forces applied to it..
