Exhaust install help/ questions (X-Force)
Hey, wanted to clarify a few requirements for my catback install, but mostly needed some assistance to decipher the install process of the valve system integrated with my catback as the images/ descriptions provided to me are terrible.
For those unfamiliar with X-Forces VAREX system it's basically a motor attached to the muffler that is connected via a wire that runs from the exhaust muffler, through the trunk into the cabin and then connects to a 12v port. I'm capable of doing that much, what I don't understand are the locations the install process is telling me to put my wiring so that I don't have a long cord going across my rear and around my passengers footspace. https://i.imgur.com/MT1sfKl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/uYwQeBc.jpg Looking at the photos for example, pics 1-3 and 5 I have no idea where those places are located on my car. Pic 7 i'm vaguely making out as the trim piece on the side of the passengers leg room that connects to the AC/ center console piece, and 8 looks like the 12v port in the cup holders. I don't understand why that's relevant to my install though if the first half is getting me to use the 12v in the glove box. Can anyone make out where the "plastic cover between the carpet and doors" in pic 1 and the "panel under the dash" in pic 5? For the catback install itself just wanted to double check what tools i'll need, currently have none and will have to go buy them. I was going to get: - Low profile jack: 85mm lowered, 375mm rasied - Hydraulic jack oil - 2x car stands: 292mm lowered, 425mm raised - 14mm wrench (think I already have a 10) And I have some wd40 for the hangers, and was going to use some rubber dumbells as the wheel stoppers Do I need anything else, ie will 2 stands not be enough to get all the way down the car or is that everything? Also when tightening the bolts do I have to be worried about torquing them down with a specific tool or do I just tighten it as if it's any other bolt Thanks |
Hey, stumbled across your thread while trying to also do exhaust valve stuff, the photos shown aren't specifically for the BRZ/86. I'm looking at the same pdf and it's dated 2018, long before their BRZ/86 system came out. Do you still need help with wiring specifics/routing? I've done this with a different brand exhaust on my car.

Why did you need hydraulic jack oil?
