Very sluggish throttle response at 3k rpm

Hello, I'm noticing very slow throttle response specifically around 3k when im rev matching. Throttle response is fine at other rpms, higher and lower. I am on the OFT v4.03 tune, i have not touched any tables myself. I uploaded two videos to YT, one showing normal throttle response at other rpms and the sluggish behaviour at 3k

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwIfcK499A4

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gV2f-kUYiGc

Notice how it starts very very slow and then picks up like normal like the first video.

Much appreciated

EDIT*

I tap the pedal to the floor each time in both videos

Is this something you recently noticed or has it always been that way?

The difference may be that at 3,000 rpm, the engine is in the dreaded torque dip. Not so much at 4,000 rpm.

OBTW your "tire" dash light is talking to you - :iono:

Something recent actually. I switched from the v3 tune to the v4 a couple months back.

I thought about the torque dip too but i figured headers and an oft tume would’ve completely eliminated that.

Aftermarket wheels without tpms :). So my car thinks my wheels are missing lol

Yep, the tune may have made a difference.

Same thing has recently happened to me, and it makes the car a lot less fun to drive. The rpm kinda hangs out On downshifts and makes it impossible to rev match. It doesn’t do it 100% of the time, and it doesn’t matter if I’m on the v3 or v4 tune. A few months ago I switched from the stage 2+ tune with an UEL header to the stage 1 tune with a stock header. I never had this problem before the switch back to stock header. But I also don’t remember the problem popping up right away with the tune/header change. Since the problem isn’t always happening and it doesn’t matter which tune I’m on, it makes me wonder if there is a sensor acting up when it gets warm.

Why not email shiv@openflash.com ?

Update

Swapped back to the v3 tune. Still have the dead pedal for another 100ish kilometres but the actual throttle response at 3k is normal like the rest of the rev range now. Ran the v3 tune for 2 years with no issues, might as well keep it on there.

when i had my OFT, the v4 tunes were trash. Issues like what you're describing and random rough cold idles.

OFT/Shiv don't really care about this platform anymore (kind of expected tbh its at the end of its run) so i wouldn't expect things to improve any time soon.

IMO still worth sending emails and contacting through facebook or this forum if you can. OFT still has a large basis of customers in the 86 and miata communities to say they've given up seems odd to me.

its very likely due to oft tunes jumping instantly from closed loop to open loop fueling and it runs rich as you blip throttle, they also increase the tip in fueling which may also dull throttle respinse on a quick jab like rev match.

i can likly it fix by retune

Are you still having this problem? I installed the Grams 72mm throttle body yesterday and it fixed the problem. Throttle response is better than ever now.
