Did the Cb Edition ever happen?
 

I realize this is old news, but search came up short for me on this. Stumbled on an article from 2015 on the CB edition that was to be a Japan only special edition. The announcement said it would be out in 2 months from the article publish date, so that seems pretty legit.

Like you said it was a Japan only and yes it did come out.
They described it as "designed for women"!

Not gonna lie - I'd be interested to see which Hakone owner is brave enough to acquire the Cb headlights and bumper and convert their front end.

I know one that isn’t.

I wouldn't blame them.

of course it happened...jdm sale only though and pretty rare. didn't sound like many folks in the states liked the style otherwise someone would have snagged a bumper from japan..

I was one of the biggest haters on the new front bumper but for some reason it just works with the green colour.

It’s grown on me as well. I think I like the styling of the Zenki and Kouki the same. The Zenki front is a little more “angry” looking, and the updated front looks a little more sophisticated I guess?

I guess I dont completely hate it, but it makes the car look like something from 2008 or so. I almost wonder if this is an early concept idea from the design phase they decided to bring out for a special edition. Also, it would take more than a bumper - you'd at least need completely new headlights.

I like the Cb edition. It gives the 86 more of the retro XK-E coupe look. Since I have the 2020 Hakone Edition, it would be particularly nice. But, I would be concerned that it is more than a "bolt-in" due to the 17+ body changes.

OTOH, if someone were to have a kit that provided all of the parts (lights, support brackets, new fog lights, etc.), I have a wonderful body man who could definitely do the work.
