2017+ BRZ/86 Steering wheel trim options

Does anybody know where to find aftermarket options?

I've been scouring for something to replace the silver. So far the only pieces I have found are for earlier model wheels.

The JDM trim is all black and what most use to replace the silver unless you want to go with some kind of overlay and those are all over the place.

Look up the VIN of the orange 2017/2018 86 edition 86. Thats the only USDM car that came with black steering wheel trim. Use that VIN on a parts site like parts-souq and you can get the part number. I have it somewhere, if I find it I’ll update this post or just find it again as I plan on doing the same.

860*

No aftermarket options available to my knowledge.

You can get the OEM black version (special editions and I think Brz TS version is black too), but since it is only sold with the button assembly you will be paying $200+. Not worth it IMO.

I just vinyl wrapped it myself in matte black. Still looks good 2+ years later. You could paint it too, I just went vinyl in case I wanted to reverse it one day.

860, yes correct.

Part number: SU003-07459

I Plasti Dipped mine (together with the silver shifter surround and gloss black infotainment surround). Cost me two cans of black Dip (first time I used Plasti Dip, could have used just one if I knew what I was doing before hand), much cheaper than getting the JDM parts.

Thanks for the info gents.

The only silver trim left in the car is on the wheel, and the rings around the vents. The rest is done in black suede to match the 86 black on the dash.

I'm decent with paint, I'm going to give vinyl paint a try first. I have little experience wrapping, I fear it would end in rage  that black looks subtle @wolffbite

I peaked at your last pics, the suede is really nice! There’s black JDM door handles and the 860 edition also has a black traction control button too.

I saw that, it's about $90 shipped through a Canadian supplier. I'm curious what the silver buttons will look like against the silver on the shift knob once everything else is black. Worst case it'll be the last thing I order.

I will have to do something with the silver rings around the door speakers too.

I swapped silver to black on everything I could. Vent rings, door handles, shifter surround trim, e-brake button, traction buttons...

Only thing I haven't touched is the door speaker rings. If you figure out something for yours definitely post some pics!

It looks like door speaker panel is removable from the door card. I don't see much in terms of replacement, but that at least means I can mask it off and paint it with the other trim at the same time.

I'll update if get around to it before winter.

The silver ring is completely removable. If you remove the knee pad, the ring can be removed.

Some of the lower trim Japanese cars appear to have black rings for the speaker. I was not able to find a part number for it though.
