it sounds good!

i've been hearing mixed things about the sound in this car but with the tube routing some engine sound into the cabin it sounds really good. i don't get why people call it a noise generator, it's not making any sound, just bringing some of the sound the engine makes into the cabin. my si has a short ram intak on it and i'd say the sound is about as loud as the si out of vtec, i didn't get the frs into the upper rpm range, but i can't imagine it would be as loud as the si in vtec, it screams.

anyway, who else is happy with the sound of the frs?

I'm pretty happy with the sound from inside the cabin. The exhaust note from the outside however...needs a bit more punch. But I think most of us will be dealing with aftermarket for that.

Although I haven't opened her up yet, I agree. Intake seems ok so far, but the exhuast seems to sound a bit weak.

I look forward to hearing that in-cabin sound every morning :) On a cool crisp morning drive, it sounds amazing.

A shame that it's cancelled out as soon as you open the windows (I think the positive air pressure has something to do with it) - because it completely disappears.

The exterior sound is apathetic - looking for an I/H/E combo soon for better sound and power.

exactly what i was thinking. i plan on waiting a few years for some good quality exhausts to come out and swapping it out. but as far as sound in the car goes, i'm liking the stock sound.

Yea, I love downshifting to bring the revs above 4k rpms...sounds awesome in the cabin.

People call it a noise generator because in a way it is generating noise. I feel like its kind of a gray area. Basically it has a diaphragm attached to the intake, so when the intake is pulling more air in the diaphragm "generates" noise which is then lead to the cabin.

When I removed mine I tried to blow air though it just to see how it acted and it just held pressure, it would not allow air to go straight through, so its not exactly bringing air in from the engine.

And to comment on your original point, I also like how it sounded at first, but then when I did a muffler delete I could not even notice it anymore which is why I got rid of it giving me a cleaner look to my engine bay.
