You know, I just thought of something stupid (but could work) as I took a look at the pictures on this thread. One of the odd things about the shape of the new BRZ bumper, is the cutoff line for the grille. If you "cut" that off and replace it with another grille piece theoretically, or even do something as simple as paint it black, it could give the bumper an improved look. Maybe not, but I'd say it's not bad.
Here is a very shitty 10 second render in paint that shows what I mean.
I can imagine this car will look pretty good in black, as many cars often do.

Personally, I like the slim BRZ grill opening as it is, prefer that to painting the bottom lip black to make it look bigger/taller. Not a fan of all of the hyuge gaping maw grill openings on many modern cars. 228hp doesn't need a big opening.

Me neither in that sense. It's more that I still have not adapted to the odd shape of it. I'm usually very lenient and enjoy a good style, and this just hasn't hit that spot for me yet. So I'm mostly tending to those that feel the same as I do, I guess. It also removes and/or changes the "smile" that so many folks seem to despise (I personally don't mind it). Otherwise, agreed, I am not a fan of modern grille styles like on the Lexus that are overly large.

interesting.
Probably the most realistic looking take on the Toyota front bumper.

I'm somewhat underwhelmed...i think it looks better but it also looks very derivative...its got a very generic sports car look to it.
But at the same time it looks like a soft evolution of the pre-facelist FRS/86 grille.

Nice work!

I'll take the BRZ, thanks.

Looks great imo, better than BRZ.
Would like to see it in other colors, esp red and yellow.
Any1 with photoshop skills? :p

10/10. Really nice. Might be a little off as a render, but this is probably 99% there.

Finally wiped the smile off it's face. lol

Bumper on the 86 looks way better than the brz one. Is the rear the same as the brz?

mn_ca 02-04-2021 04:59 PM

Honestly, if the production car looks anything like that it's a HR - simple and elegant. Can't really go wrong with either!

Everything flows so nicely front to back on this render. I hope it ends up looking like this! [emoji106]
I might have to change my mind on getting a BRZ instead. [emoji1]

Some new content on Hagerty.

First time I've heard a journalist state that there will be engine noise pumped in through speakers (as in the GR Yaris).

With all these renders coming out now thanks to the Australia's patent office, when Toyota finally gets around to revealing the 86. it's going to be ho hum. I think they really missed the boat on this.
