Brilliant! Shaking his head at the idiots. The struggle is real no matter what the speed.

Amazing he didn't wreck. Reminds me of my Lyft driver on Hwy. 3 through Boston, some Russian who was probably a homicidal maniac.

Was that an actual race or a dual class race like GT3 and GT4 cars (pretty sure I saw GT4 cars), or was it just a track day with a bunch of rich guys in their rich GT3 cars, and one guy was a pro in his or someone else's GT3 car? I ask because if that was a race then there wasn't much of a race unless other cars were on his ass the whole time.

It was multi-class qualifying. A lot of other cars where on an out-lap or in-lap most likely.

The team told me, "There is rain on the way David, put in a qualifying lap before it comes" it seems that a lot of other drivers had the same idea!

Yeah, that makes more sense. I understand these aren't production cars, but if we extrapolate production cars and make assumptions about race cars then we see that the BMW M5 or M8 registers fairly low on the Nurburgring times compared to say Porsches, so I can't imagine a light-weight, tube chassis BMW would suddenly crush the field like it did in the video. I understand the BMW M6 GT3 race car does well and has a great Nurburgring time, but not like the video portrays. The video looks much more like a normal track day video with a supercar flying by the field of VW Golfs and BMW 340is when the context of the situation is explained.

VLN does a pretty good job with BOP to get so many cars with such different layouts racing in the same class while still retaining factory-ish body lines.

I couldn't imagine being in a Clio cup car, and having an M6 GT3 pass at that speed :eyebulge: For sure a pants pooping moment.

not quite the overtaking video, but still my most favorite Nurburgring video of all time, mostly because of the unicorn car and also because Hans Stuck.

Plus, normal manual gearbox.

As someone else said, qualifying, but the variation of cars on the track at one time is pretty absurd.

If you watch the race, you can see the staggered starts and diversity of cars:

Credit to the other drivers who immediately saw him coming and signaled / gtfo'd for him to pass.
