Throttle cut , now No Start?
Hey all,
Just last week, was cruising at about 60mph, nothing out of the ordinary, when I lose throttle response, almost as if I had a faulty MAF. Luckily, I was able to pull over, but since then, have been unable to get the car to start. No store codes, swapped out MAF. Car has been driving fine up to this point. Any ideas? Plan on getting it towed to my local 86 shop, but figured I would check here before that. Car is a 2013 BRZ, Stage 2+ OFT on e85, 80k miles. Thanks! |

Does the battery have voltage? If not your alternator might be shot. If it does I find it odd that nothing happens when you press the button. Or maybe something does? And you should explain what lights/sounds you get..

Lights, and all electric work. The fuel pump is priming, but car just won't fire. Thanks! |
Still did not answer the question, will the engine turn over quickly? what kind of a noise will it make while trying to start? have you tried to jump the battery? (not booster cables but real jumpers)

Turns over quickly, as normal - just not firing. Have tried jumping the battery as well, yes. |
I had a similar issue that ended up being the fuel pressure regulator

Unplug MAF mass air flow sensor at air box , will car start with maf unplugged ?

I had this exact thing happen to me when I owned a 2004 Lancer. All the same symptoms. All power worked, car cranks indefinitely, lost throttle response while driving on the highway. Car was running and continued to "run" while it slowly coasted to a stop and died. Could throttle all I wanted and no engine response
It ended up being the crankshaft position sensor |
