Rear passenger wheel leaking?

6 Attachment(s)
Hello,

Last night i noticed there was fluid leaking from my rear passenger wheel. I assuming its brake fluid. It doesnt seem like diff fluid. I have pulled off the wheel and the axle seems to be a little rusted. I checked the brake fluid lvls last night, but the levels were fine. Any suggestions to find this leak would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah only lines back there are hydraulic and gas. Gas would probably* evaborate and have that distinct smell. The only oil back there is in the rear differential but that is easy to see if it leaking from underneath.

Hmm. I have seen on another thread about a member having the same problem but its was leaking brake fluid from the banjo fitting. And im still checking things. Theres no leak from it.

Its no gas, its the next day and it hasnt dried up at all.

Hydraulics, it could be the shock right?

What do your CV axle boots look like?

That is actually quite a bit of grease coming out of that one. What about the outer joint?

The pattern of spray on the face of the wheel makes me think that it may have come from outside ie not your car...

Thats what i thought last night. I pulled off the wheel and you can see in one of the pics, the LCA has some kinda dried fluid on it. So im thinking it is from my car. Hopefully its not and i just ran over a puddle of oil or something

Its dry. And the other inner axle boot looks has the same amount of grease coming out.

Car has 65k miles. Recently boosted it.

2nd pic is of the other inner axle boot

The large puddle on the inside of the wheel could have splashed all over. Looks like it has only had a leak in one or two positions. It looks like it did not get on the outside of the rotor, check the inside. Have someone else push hard on the brake while you look for a leak from the hose or connectors.
Do not worry about the rust at he hub. That is normal.
Spray every thing with brake cleaner and old rag. Re assemble and drive for a short while and take the wheel off again and check carefully. Repeat until you find the leak.
It does look like brake fluid, but could be the robot dog next door peed on it in the night.

Could you have driven through a puddle of oil at a construction site? A good cleaning with brake cleaner will show if it comes back..
