Help me to fix my super loud exhaust
Hi guys!
We are a racing team based in Dubai and we have just got a GT86 according to the local cup regulation. It's basically a CS-V3 as per TMG specs except for few (important) details. In order to cut shipping cost they have supplied the cars with a straight pipe from headers onward, and the noise is obnoxious! when you switch on the car in the box we can't talk and if we are doing coaching in the car even with a rally intercom it's not easy to hear each other. let me also add that the car is louder than GT3 and GT4 and this is really embarassing! Our target it's to minimize the cost and the weight. Also nothing it's available here so something small and light that we can ship without spending crazy money is preferred. I was thinking about a universal muffler to weld somewhere on the exhaust line, any specific suggestion or idea? https://scontent.fdxb1-1.fna.fbcdn.n...e7&oe=5F455731 Thanks! |
How about just installing a stock muffler - :iono:

Not to be a total butthead (Well maybe a little) but you're on a racing team but are asking about quieting down your straight piped exhaust? Why not add a resonator somewhere along the line and buy generic weld-in mufflers? A turn down tip would also help quiet it down a little more

Find a stock front pipe to quiet it down or have a muffler shop weld in a 18" bottle resonator where front pipe goes and add another to rear mid pipe section to quiet down exhaust. Also adding a branch pipe off the front pipe will cut drone too.

Or weld in two resonators on frontpipe and a resonator and muffler on catback. |
I would get a racing exhaust such as one of the followings

Welding in some resonators would be simple and cheap.
LOL, been "racing" long? |

Find a resonator off of a wrecked car and weld it in at the front of the mid pipe as suggested. Cheep and easy to try.

Since cost is an issue, just revert back to stock passed the headers. It's not like you'll lose a lot of power by doing that.

Can vouch for the HKS V2. Catless header and still pretty quiet. The tip is huge, like 4.5 inches, and its not the lightest. Otherwise it kills just about all the drone on the highway.
