Spoiler

Anyone done a rear spoiler swap from a limited brz/GTS prefacelift to limited brz/GTS facelift

Was it a straight swap?

Also is the facelift rear tail lights the same on 86GT and 86GTS?

Yes, it's a straight swap. However, F/L models have extra pin that fix the spoiler in addition to 2 holes on each side. You can remove the pin easily, and you will be able to swap the F/L spoiler on the pre-F/L model.
Tail lights are the same. No need additional wiring jobs.

Can you explain how this spoiler, which has locating tabs all along the mating surface with the trunk lid:

Is directly replaced with this spoiler, which only has 3 contact points, without leaving holes in the trunk?

Maybe I'm missing something, wouldn't be the first time, but to me that doesn't look like a direct replacement. Looks like modification of the trunk is definitely required. Maybe the furthest mounting holes are the same, but it looks to me like you're going to need to do trunk work on everything inbetween.

nope.

16+ holes are also further forward, so the '13-15 spoiler won't cover front to back either.

Thanks for replies guess I’ll have to do a rear boot swap to have that spoiler.

I've also heard of people filling the old holes, so it's an option if you can't find a used boot without them.

I'm in the same position as you, and it's the main reason I haven't gone away from the original 13 spoiler yet. I'd be doing a full boot swap as well, probably to one that never had a spoiler (and therefore has zero holes) so I could put whatever spoiler on I want whether it be the newer OEM one or an aftermarket one.

Buying the limited version definitely looked great at the dealership with the added perk of a spoiler, but as soon as you try to change it out, you realize the non-limited boot has the advantage and is actually easier to upgrade.
