RastaRican718's Autox/Track Toy

What's up everyone, got my BRZ a few weeks ago used. I traded in my 2013 WRX, I have been looking to get into something that was RWD. S2000, 370Z, C5 vette were all on the list but the BRZ made the most sense with as far as running costs went and after driving all of them. It was just as fun.

Started the first set of mods, thankfully my wheel and tire set up from my WRX fit onto the BRZ. So getting my RPF1s wrapped in RE71s was the first step. I also picked up an Invidia N2 exhaust for a bit more bark. Not as loud as I would like it but after I go remove one of the cats it should open it up a bit more.

Curious about how the diff bushings are! I've got the same set in my garage, I just haven't got around to installing them yet.

Same here, I am waiting for the others I ordered to come in. Might as well do them all at the same time. Will post as soon as I get them.

Yeah I've got the Whiteline outrigger kit which king of just bolts on to the diff I believe and it made a big difference, so I can only imagine a full replacement.

With the RE71s the whole damn rear end shook when I launched it, way more grip than power. I think the diff mounts will help with putting the power down instead of trying to shake my damn teeth out lol.

OK guys so update time. I took my BRZ out to my local try at Waterford Hills here in Michigan. (Trying to get on the M1 this year as well.....trying)

So I am coming from a 2013 WRX (non-STi), I'm no Clarkson or Harris but here is my 1 and a half cents. We don't need to go into the power difference, that point has been beaten to death, stabbed, dragged, shot, beheaded and blown up just for good measure.
What stood out to me first of all were the seats, in my opinion the 2013 wrx seats are shit. They did not hold me in place like i would have liked, through the corners my foot was planted in the dead pedal as I hung onto the steering wheel like i was on an out of control merry go round.
Second was the steering wheel, there was a lot more feel to what the front wheels were doing than the wrx gave. Don't get me wrong but WRX is no early 2000s Camry but I was feeling more info from the wheel about the tires.
Third was the involvement, the WRX is a very forgiving car to drive fast. Slow it down, turn it and kick the pedal into the firewall. the AWD system grips, then takes off like a squirrel on meth. While rewarding the BRZ takes a bit more finesse to get it around, is it slower, yup. But that doesn't mean its any less fun.
And finally was the launch, I am running 255 RE71s, basically my tire quoted Saruman The White when talking to the drive train "You have no power here FA20" Insert mechanical laugh. A bushing is needed upgrade, from motor mounts, diff, trans and rear sub frame are getting installed as soon as I have them all.
Well enough of me talking, videos are below. Enjoy.

I am a little late on the uploads but I went to an Auto X the same weekend I was at Waterford Hills. SCCA event was well run as always and I got to push the limits of the BRZ in a much less risky environment. I found that I preferred driving the car around the course with no traction control on at all. We ended up getting 4 runs that day but I only got to capture 3. It was really hot and I left the phone on, it over heated. So I only got 3, enjoy :party0030:

Just a quick update, dropped the car off at my local guy to have all those bushings and inserts put in from the previous video. Also signed up for my first track day :-)

Awesome, you should love the superpro bushes.

Just a quick update, the motor mounts and driveline bushings are installed. The gear shifting feels much smoother and much more positive. I have not had a chance to take it out for a thrashing but from what I could do on public roads, the rear does not feel like it has as much flex as it did before. What little power the car does have is not being used turn the wheels as opposed to twisting the bushings like before. More mods to come, forgot how fast you can go through cash when it comes to car modification. Have to be a responsible adult....unfortunately.

I think the next mod that I am going to get will be an overpipe and front pipe, uncatted. Maybe get one with a resonator, not sure yet will have to check out the youtube to see which one I like better. But I do know the header I am going to get will be EL and catted, I know this limits my options but that is just what I prefer to get. Also the track day looks to be on for Sept so I will see what direction I will need to go after this event. Will post pics of hardware once I have received them in the mail.

Be easy, 1.
