OFT tuners in Tampa/Florida?
 

Hey everyone! This is my first post on here, I should have created an account way sooner, as I've owned my FRS for about 9 months now. I have been working on the exhaust, I recently installed a corsa catback paired with MXP UEL catless headers and MXP overpipe. Obviously I have a CEL. I didn't want to dish out 500 right now for a OFT, so I was checking on here to see if anyone in Florida in the Tampa bay area or surrounding has an OFT that I could load a tune on? Obviously I would pay to do that, but I wanted to see what my options were!

That’s not how an OFT works. They can only load tunes on one car, until you take the tune off that car.

Wait can't we just upload any tune into the tablet and upload it to any car? Or is the OEM tune that comes with the car saved permanently into the tablet until it's
cleared/formatted so that you can't just upload tunes and download them them as many times as you want in any car?

This is correct.

Semi related question: say you have a twin paired with your own oft. Can you take the car and tablet in to a local tuner and have them do a custom tune for your car?

Yes. They'd have to use the open source software RomRaider to edit the map.

Whether they would or not is dependent on whether they care that the tune file can't be locked with an OFT.

There are several people in here that aren't ninnies and will do it over the internet. You drive and log and send them the files and
they adjust and you go through that several times adjusting the tune until you're both happy.
