Ventura County Scene

What's the scene like around Ventura - Oxnard - Port Hueneme? I've seen a lot of 86s around and a ton of other nice looking cars. Is everything shutdown cuz of COVID? I wouldn't think it would put a damper on cruises, clubs, or meets. It's mostly outdoors in the sun and I don't have any problems wearing a mask.

No 86 club that I know of. But everyone meets on Thursdays at the In n Out in the esplanade for a big meet and linking up for races. If not in n out than the jack in the box on rose and highway 1 or the fresh n easy next to it. And if you have power then every night on highway 1 guys will do pulls into the weeee morning hours.

RD engineering is supposed to be the best GTR tuner around and their shop isn’t too far off the beaten path.
And Camarillo airport used to have autocross competitions before covid. You can rent out a runway for yourself or team if you want.

That's super good info, thanks. I'm mostly looking for safe spots for sliding and people into it. I'll definitely be giving Camarillo airport a call.

805 slide rents out buttonwillow or willow springs, whichever one has the drift pad. At least before covid.

I see a lot of big empty industrial lots around here. I'd like to see about building something closer to Ventura rather than going all the way out there.

Nice. I work in Ventura on Thursdays and would like to meet up with other 86/BRZ/FRS owners if they ever have a meet. The airport thing sounds fun too.

Up until the COVID-19 crisis there were meets for all kinds of enthusiast autos on the last Sunday of the month at Poinsettia Plaza (corner of Main and Telephone, just off US-101) and the first Sunday at Seabridge Marina (corner of Victoria and Wooley), usually running from about 8 to 10 AM. Several 86s usually show up, and the 805Subies are pretty welcoming to our 2WD stepsiblings. It might be worth a drive to see if the meets are up this weekend.

Maybe try Googling "Cars and Coffee Ventura County" ? It's not rocket science. Tons of Facebook groups, YT vids, dedicated pages pop up on the first search page.

I'm not sure what the status is during Kalifornika's limited lockdown, but before that a group met at Poinsettia Plaza in Ventura (Telephone & Main) from about 8AM to 10AM on the last Sunday of each month. There was also a meet-up at the Seabridge Shopping Center (Victoria & Wooley) at the same time on the first Sunday. Both of these locations have a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. The Murphy Museum (1930 Eastman Avenue, just east of Rose) may reopen this weekend to resume their meets, also on the first Sunday from 7AM to 9AM. Here's hopin'...

There's a more complete listing of Cars & Coffee type events in SoCal, including Ventura County, here:
