[Kinda Solved]Help needed on backup camera install
 

I tried to use HU 6V to power my amazon camera but it did not work. If I do not cut the indicator wire it works fine but if I cut it the image flickers about.

Then I tried to use the reverse light cable to supply power to my camera. It works intermittently. Sometime it works sometime the HU does not respone. However the image is stable.

Any suggestion on where to get the stable power supply? I would prefer to have a PS with a trigger to the reverse signal. I tried to find a 6V relay as a trigger on amazon but no luck yet.

Any help or suggestion is appreciated!

BTW I tested the camera before installing, with the camera's own indicator cable connected the image is stable and not flickering at all, that's why I went ahead with the install.

OK I manage to 'solve' issue by connecting PS to an ACC 12V. I used the spare connector behind the HU

Used a multimeter to ID the ACC 12V.
Not ideal cos the cam will be on as long as the ACC is on.
Next step will be looking for a good cam works with 6V or buy an after market HU with 12V supply.

There’s really no issue with this. The camera consumes very little power and being on all the time is better for solid state devices than turning on and off repeatedly.

Also, you won’t have the small delay waiting for the camera to turn on when going in reverse. It’s short but it’s there and in some cameras the image looks wonky for ~ a 1/4 second when booting up. I prefer wiring the backup camera to an accessory wire.
