Recommended Tires For 18x8.5 +35 Rims
 

I'm researching for tires to buy in a month or two for a set of aftermarket rims that I bought online. The rims are AVID.1 AV-06 18" x 8.5" +35 offset concave style. They're going on a 2013 Scion FRS (10-Series) with stock suspension and don't have fender flares at the moment. I've done a bit of research for some tires. I would like to have Toyo tires if possible but I found that Toyo Extensa HP II 245/40R18 would be my first pick. I think these would be the best looking & maximum size I could go. My other alternatives are Bridgestone Potenzas RE980AS 245/40R18 or Driveguard BL 245/40R18 (Most expensive & 50k mile warranty).

What do you guys think? Are these tires a good size & do you think these would look great on the car? Any suggestions are welcome.

A 245/40 would fit well. 235/45 would also be ok.
Why not look at some other tires? Most of Toyo's non performance tires are rock hard and noisy. The Hankook Ventus v12 concept2 should be cheaper and would be a great all around tire

Seems like you're going more for aesthetics than performance so tire choice doesn't matter tbh. You're in florida so zero reason to get an all season other than possibly longer wear at the trade off of shittier grip.

For sure you do not want 245/40-18, that's an inch taller than stock.
245/35-18, or 225/40-18. Would say 235/35-18 are an option but practically nonexistent.

Think about what your priorities are for tires. Handling, grip, wet vs. dry, possible snow, max life, etc. Bridgestone Driveguard are "Grand Touring All Season" tires. I.e., very low-performance...

Without some negative camber you are going to look quite a bit poked with +35 offset. Definitely would look like a better fit if the car were lowered a bit and with -2 or more negative camber.

No no no no. 245/40-18 is NOT the size you want! Neither is 235/45-18. Too damn tall!

I think the rubber band aesthetic is silly. A thicker sidewall also rides nicer and will provide better traction. Speedo might be off 1 or 2 mph though.
A 235/45 I guess may be a bit much.
