Aftermarket hood supports

Anyone seen these yet?http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-JDM-Blac...sories&vxp=mtr

I never like prop rods to hold up hoods, that was always something I considered cheesy. I don't know if the reason for the prop rod instead of regular supports is cost, weight or due to the lightweight hood.

Prop rod = regular support. Hood dampers are a luxury, albeit a nice one. No problem with it being a lightweight hood, hood dampers all have different valving depending on their application.

IMO, the dampers are nice, but more chance of sudden failure. At least if the rod is about to go, you can see it.

Anyone had that installed yet? i'm thinking of getting a set, but not sure if it will hold up.

I've installed Gimmick dampers and they're nice. Purchased them at Import Image.

Mine arrived today (http://www.ebay.com/itm/110950855590...S:3160&vxp=mtr)

Obviously can't attest to long-term durability, but they look good and seem to work pretty well right after install.

They took 10-15 minutes after looking at the pictures on the Japanese instructions - I'd just suggest you use some plastic from the packing bags between your wrench and the bolts to protect the paint.

Here are some pictures, if I can get them to load (this is my first time posting):

Looks good, I've been wanting these for a while, this was my first mod on my Tacoma back in 2006 and I love them. They still work perfectly too! However the ones on my Tacoma are from Redline Tuning.

Redline was supposed to be releasing some for us...I wonder if they are available by now?

I just checked their site and the FRS/BRZ aren't listed yet. I've had their struts on a few different vehicles in the past though, great products that I'd highly recommend once they become available.

I just emailed Redline Tuning with an inquiry, also asked them about a possible group buy. Hopefully I'll hear back soon!

The ones purchased above...do they lift the hood as well? It's a small thing, but I loved how I could just bump the hood of my sti up slightly and it would raise itself the rest of the way.

+1 waiting for redline...

In for Redline. Hopefully they get it out soon.

I have these but what I did was paint the brackets white to match the paint in the engine compartment. These are a pretty nice set.
