Powder coated 16" Rays...for an old JDM look
 

Ive got two sets of Rays CE 28 (16 x 7 J+33) , one set is powder coated in a titanium finish, but my favourite now is these that have just arrived back....

They are a classic wheel, super light, super strong and they easily clear the AP brakes.

Looks great! I love the 16" wheel look on these cars. Are you running a 225/50 tire on these?

Though i wouldn't overestimate strength of those wheels. Forged doesn't automatically mean superstrength. Often they are as strong as cast wheels, but chosen to use up their advantage of manufacturing/material to turn for lighter weight. Given from your threads on that ohlins suspension and stated use on backroads/rallying, imho it's not that hard to break/bend these. The more hardcore rallying one go, the more imho worth to consider real rally wheels .. downside being very heavy weight. Well, but they can get you till finish with flat tire :)
Though CE28 of course at very least will be of reasonable strength/rigidity. I wouldn't be so sure for their further lightened, SL versions, though.

That red Auto Salon car is my favorite 86. TRD seats, fins, rear window louver that nobody can find anymore, steering wheel, shifter trim. I love that car. The only thing I would pass on is the RS1.0 rear bumper.

I used them for daily driving on my Yaris for 12 years. They are absurdly strong.

I see one fog mounted on the tow hook but whats the other one mounted on?

No, not mounted on tow hook, but on 90º bracket that is bolted to the crash bar, next to the tow hook. Bracket comes out through tow hook hole cover. Same position on other side, but with a small hole cut for the bracket to pass through.

The other set I have has done about 25000 km on rough bitumen and dirt with no problems at all. They are beautifully engineered... love em! :)

grumpysnapper: why you went for such lights instead of eg. led light cluster? (i have to admit, classic round ones do look cooler. Always was fan of PIAA rally lights on WRC cars in pods on top of bonnet).

LED light clusters still don't really have the long distance 'reach' of quality HID spotlight, with the diameter of the 'lens and reflector being a critical factor. These units have a usable reach of over 1.3 kilometres.
Also LED clusters can't be easily modified, where as these units can be changed in seconds to: wide spreads, spots, medium spot with spread, fog lights etc.
LED bars or clusters are also heavier than these units, weighing only 560grams each including their mount. :)

That +33 offset looks great with a 7" wheel. I've thought of using a thin 5mm spacer with my 16x7 ET40 wheels, but I'd need to go to slightly longer aftermarket studs to feel comfortable with how much stud I'd have left to grab.. I'll probably eventually need to anyways, as I'm going on 8 years now with rotating street, track and winter tires, plus occasional suspension work...just delaying the inevitable I guess..

You'd be surprised how easy it is to change the studs, and it actually ends up being quite a useful mod... but of course you would need new lug nuts. :)
