weird squeaky noise only when pushing in clutch sometimes
 

Hi All,

So finally drove my 2019 BRZ after a few days and I noticed that every time I push in the clutch or most times the clutch makes this squeaky/squealing noise. The car only has about 8.5k miles on it and I don't do any burnouts or abuse the clutch that hard like ever. The noise does come whether the car is on or off. A lot of people have said its mostly just something needs to be re-greased. Wondering if anyone else has had this issue and if so where does the degreasing might need to be done.

I know some people have said the throwout bearing as well but on a car that's been driven only 8.5k what are the odds of that happening?

I experience this very same issue on my 2012 Toyota 86. However, at times it comes and goes. I'm wondering when its like unused for a bit it makes the sounds and then when you driving and in motion, it stops. But I'm not sure why it does it.

You might try the ol @Ultramaroon grease um up the clutch fork trick:


Quick & dirty: from @Ultramaroon

1. Detach the slave cylinder. Leave the hydraulics alone.
2. Remove the dust boot from the fork.
3. Reach down behind the fork with a finger and feel for the pivot. It's going to be tight because of the retaining clip.
4. Squeeze a decent glob of Lucas Red & Tacky #2 in there with your finger.
5. Jiggle the fork to distribute the grease as much as possible. It'll work in more on its own.
6. Put a dab of grease in the top pivot where the slave pin goes.
7. Reassemble.

This or grease up the main and slave cylinder shafts. That s usually more of a honk than a squeak though.

the slave cylinder regreased and still a no go, took it to the dealer since its still under warranty and they're replacing the slave cylinder for me, kinda annoying at 8,500 miles on the car.

Is there anyway to upgrade certain parts of the transmission so that this doesn't constantly fail? I'll probably use it until if and when it fails again

If it fails again, I might as well just fork out the money and upgrade some of the parts, since I had a plan to go FI within a year anyways if anyone has any recommendations

Well, OK, you might mention to them to grease up the clutch fork while they are at it.

If it were the clutch fork or the slave cylinder shaft that was making noise, that doesn't mean they were "failing", it just means they were dry.
