Scammers on this forum?

Are there a lot of scammers on this forum?

Recently I posted saying that I am looking to buy a OFT used and I got some pretty interesting PMs that seems pretty shady.
They all go like this.
"I know a friend who is selling their OFT, and you should contact that person"
I shoot the email they provide me and I get a reply saying that they are selling their OFT for a pretty unreasonable price (brand new OFT2 for $370 shipped and such)
But they ask for payments in ways where I have no fraud protection. (paypal friends or family, cashapp and etc. )
Of course I said no to any of those offers but it is really surprising to have such scammers in this small community.

If anyone is interested in knowing who those are I can post their account/and email address' here.

Disclaimer: I do not know if they are indeed trying to scam me but the way both people contacted me and the body of the message raises so many red flags. :brokenheart:
Edit: I am confident both are scammers as their account are only days old with no posts..

And posting in classifieds...

Water is wet!! So what is the problem here besides people trying to steal from others like they always do in life? Just report and move on.

It would be best to wait for a post by an established member. There isn't anything inherently wrong with paypal or other apps, but yes it is shady to get solicited by brand new members.

You could also check local Craigslist and local Facebook groups for OFT sales. I feel like OFT is always available for sale used somewhere...

just remember--no one needs an account to view anything on this forum. all the threads are free to look at, and are easily searchable through any search engine.

scammers exist on the internet, so it stands to reason that if there's nothing baring them from viewing/searching any particular forum without an account, scams are going to pop up.

Scams? On the internet? NEVER!

I am often shocked at the number of visitors that this forum can have.

Probably about 5% would be my guess. They usually come in waves though.

You sure about that? I would expect crawlers and data mining bots to be a higher percentage. Just search engine spiders alone would create a lot of page hits.

"Currently Active Users" is a nonsense metric. There's nothing on this site that maintains state. If something accesses a page and then leaves, it's not an active user, but it would still be included in the stats as a "person."

Oh no doubt at all when you take it to those areas. I just meant the Bots that actively show themselves as such.
