Does summer e85 have higher ethanol content than winter blend?
I stand corrected:
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...6dfa324a36.jpg Vapor pressure is now adjusted with additives, not ethanol percentage, all classes have the same 51-83% range. https://afdc.energy.gov/files/u/publ...l_handbook.pdf |
no. it's in the name. 85% ethanol.
what changes from summer to winter is the fuel additive packages--the stuff to clean injectors and make kittens purr. |
The one station I went to all the time when I lived in Nor Cal was always the same year round. About 82%

One note, even at 82, I had to add some premium in the mix when it got cold for starting. And I'm talking California cold, like 45°f. I couldn't imagine starting pure e85 in real cold. Haven't found any in Idaho. I hear there is a couple stations in Boise. |

Here in Sweden E85 is 80-85% at summer time and 70-77% during the cold months. Fuel additives does not differ.

Here in Minnesota my local gas station has 65% right now. It can vary depending on time of year, what state you're in and the price of regular gasoline.

Every state has different ethanol content with more in the summer than winter. Check Appendix E on page 35 and 36:
