Need advice on how to maximize my factory warranty

Hi folks,

New member here. Just purchased a 2016 FR-S RS 2.0 and this is the first time buying a car that has factory warranty left on it.

Since it had warranty on it, I didn't even bother to get a PPI but now I don't know how to utilize this warranty.

What do you guys do in this situation?

Should I go to a dealer and request a full inspection to see if there is any issues with the car? I don't think the car has any issues but I don't want to find out something is wrong with the car after the warranty expires and it will expire soon.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

If something breaks during the warranty period, take it to dealer for repair. Pretty simple.

With most dealers if you take it in they are going to charge a diagnostic fee for the inspection. If they find any warranty issues then you get it back. If they don't you pay. They are not going to do free inspections.
Like Hoe said warranty is to fix something that breaks but they are not going to go looking for things broken.

I agree with you guys. Just had to ask..

Is there any parts known to fail on these cars? so I can keep a close eye on it?

Throw out bearing for the clutch if a MT is the only thing really "common" that you would have on that car.

My advice, pay for an inspection at the dealer. Tell them you want to know everything wrong and anything that could potentially become a problem. Pay the inspection fee.

That way they will give a list of issues and potential issues and have a clear picture. If any of the issues are covered by warranty have them repaired.

Thanks for all the advice!

open your engine hood. if it smells liek oil, even a bit, take it in and say it smells like oil.

i had my gasket redone close to the end of the warranty for freeeee.

then i had the #$#%@ engine taken apart for the recall 2 months after that...

Just drive it like you stole it.. do this for a few days and then take it in for warranty work..

You can call the dealer and see if they'll offer a third party warranty. I've had good luck with those on my two cars.
