Exhaust Splash Shield. Necessary???

Hello,

Recently found out that my brz's exhaust splash shield(56440ca030) became loose and broke into many pieces in my engine bay. Just wondering if you guys know if it is even necessary to have one or can I do without it??

Thank you,

It's a splash shield, designed to prevent excessive water getting to the underside of your car. Also prevents debris from lodging in the engine bay.

The answer depends entirely on the type of weather you have in your area.
