What modifications void the warranty?
Hi all,
I would like to know what tyoe of modifications will void the warranty of the car and which wont. I guess the warranty is covering individual parts. Say, if the suspension been lowered with lowering springs (super low ones) and the shocks get fckd in 4 months then they could blame the springs. Any opinions? |
This has already been discussed a few times. Try searching the forum before posting next time.

LINK? I would like to have them all centralised in one thread not all over the place. :D |
A lot of the discussion has been about the American market rather than the Australian market.
It is a real problem area as technically anything you do 'could' affect warranty as long as it could be proved that it caused the problem. To use your example, if you were to fit coilovers on the car and the engine throws a cylinder then they could not void your warranty as that mod had no impact on the engine. However, if you bent a control arm (or something like that), then it could be argued that the aftermarket coilover contributed to that part bending, even if the part were faulty before hand. Total grey area, Safest bet would be to do wheels, a few cosmetic bits and enjoy having a nice new car. The more you do, the more you potentially affect your warranty. Only thing stopping me slapping a supercharger on mine ASAP is the all mighty dollar and the lack of it ;) :( |
Anything you install aftermarket will void the warranty if it is proven to have caused the issue

Just use common sense + search. |
Hey guys, I know that our members SHOULD search first, but in the future please provide a link at the same time that you are chastising them.
The problem is that tons of topics like these will be found when people search and without any useful information the searcher will give up and post a new topic. Then in that new topic everyone will tell them to search and the cycle will repeat over and over until you can't find any topic that actually contains useful information. So, here is a useful topic dealing with the warranty issue: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11834 |

But totally agree with not slamming ppl Although on other forums I do it if I KNOW I answered the question like a week prior, and before, and before I think this forum and the car is too young to start slamming ppl but |
