Toyota 86 OEM Headlight Value?

Hey everyone,

I recently changed the headlights on my 86 (2018) and was looking to sell the OEM ones. However, I'm not really sure what a fair price to ask for them is. There's not much online, but eBay has both listed at $1,200 and 86speed has just the passenger headlight for roughly $1,000. I don't want to get ripped off when selling them, but I also don't wanna seem like an ass for asking way too much. Does anyone know what a fair asking price would be? Thanks in advance.

Here is a good start: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...+&_sacat=33710

The price will be between $0 and MSRP of them new.

People looking to buy typically are putting their cars back to stock or replacing a damaged one, or even upgrading from an order model.

My suggestion for you: keep it. You never know when you will need the spare parts, the money you get from this can incur a bigger loss later on should you need stock headlights again.

But, then again if you sold the car as parts it's worth about $100,000.

Being that they are the updated ones they have some value but certainly not retail. If I was selling I would look for about $800 for the pair.
If they were pre 17s you probably couldn't give them away since so many people swapped them.

Thanks for the reply.

I appreciate the advice, that definitely would be the smart thing to do. My original plan was to sell these and use the money to buy more mods for the car. But you make a good point, thanks for the reply.

Haha I thought the same thing when I saw the listing on 86speed. They do have great visibility but it's crazy to me they're worth that much.

Yeah originally I was thinking like 700 for both (350 each) but I didn't know for sure and I didn't want to get ripped off. I'd like to see what more people think before I officially post anything though. Thanks for the reply!

That's 800 of our special Canadian monopoly monies.

Knock a couple hundred off as a base line.

Lol, so you think 500 (USD; 250 each) for the pair?

The main buyers of OEM headlights are people who don't want aftermarket headlights to replace a damaged headlight/s. Typically, they don't sell very high because the market is flooded with used headlights.

Don't confuse listed prices with what they actually sell at, nor should it be assumed that all prices will sell equally fast. You might get $400 a piece if you list them for a year or more. Maybe $250 will take 6 months to find a willing buyer. I don't know. I'm just saying.

What is the sound of one hand clapping?

If a tree falls in the woods and nobody is there to hear it, does it make a sound?
