Armrest creak

Hi

At the time I installed the Toyota oem armrest. After a while it started to squeak when opening or closing it, I solved it several times with lubricant, but it always reappears after a month or two months.

Does anyone have the same problem?

At the time I saw a video where you could see how they opened and closed and also made noise.

Is there no solution?

Has anyone installed the copy of the oem armrest?

Thanks

Hmm, i'd check if some bolts/nuts may need retighten. Both for bezel that attaches to console, and especially so those on "cover/door".

Thanks for the reply.
Do you also have the armrest?
Everything is tight, I already tried it in time.
In this video you can hear the noise, minute 6:58

Which makes me think that the construction of this armrest is not good and ends up making noise.

My armrest makes the same 'creaking' noise. It never concerned me.

It's the design of the arm rest. Have you tried white lithium grease? I don't know what lubricant you're using, but it may not be a lubricant at all. Turn the music up or get a louder exhaust

This, a lot of products marketed as lubricants are actually solvents.

I have used 2 types of lubricant, one for white plastic grease and the other the 3 in 1 as usual.

and it's reappearing. with heat it expands and you hear less but when it is cold you can see it more.

I know, that small issues might be getting on nerves for some people.. but i probably wouldn't care about any creaking when opening/closing. At most, if maybe it creaks also when one puts arm on that armrest (though that doesn't matter to me much either, as most of a time i try to drive with both hands on the wheel), as that might be more frequent then opening/closing, and "compromises" "main function".
It does the job of visually closing that recess mid console with blending in oem-looks, on those rare occasions i do use it as .. well, armrest :), it seems just the right height to reach for gearshift or handbrake, and was dirt cheap .. creaks .. there can be more annoying noises in these cars. :). Even if mine on open/close also creaks, i still don't regret of getting/installing it. If anything, only thing i'd wish would be for it to open not sideways, but rearwards. Creaking doesn't bother me enough to care to fix.

Hi

In my old avensis had armrest and was better than this, now.

This really annoys me, but I still haven't a solution...

i just turn the radio up, or drop a gear and make the motor sing.

Sounds to me like a case of "tennis elbow"...

Have you tried a dry silicone lubricant? Spray on and it dries. Plastic to plastic will often squeak.
