Strano Performance Parts making use of Suspension and Brakes

As you can see, the car is quite stable and easy to drive. Doesn't fight me or try to kill me. The setup is pretty basic and does not cost insanely huge amounts of money, and it is EXTREMELY street friendly. In fact it's less harsh than stock, which tells you how much better the damping is when the car is on stiffer tires and stiffer springs. It is firm, but less jarring, and MUCH better planted.

Anyway, this is me in my car. This is the kind of thing I do to develop parts and/or setups so they work the way I want them too.

What wheels and tires are you on? Thanks!

Sam Strano 08-07-2012 03:49 PM

Hankook R-S3 245/40-17 and a set of Axis 17x8" wheels.

Nice driving. Looks well planted too.

Thank you. I'm not video or computer expert but wanted to get this video up for a while to show how well behaved the car is without super-duper-uber $4000 coil-overs and $500 camber plates.

I did not like the car stock. In fact I was for a while seriously regretting selling my GTI for this thing. It was nervous, twitchy, didn't track well, and hit certain impacts kind of hard. It's completely different now. Even with bigger, and much more sticky tires it tracks like it's on rails, the suspension is firm but actually less harsh than it was stock (a sign of good dampers). I have monkeyed with the spring rates some as compared to how they are delivered from KW.

My favorite brake pad.

Good stuff, Sam!

Damn that thing just sticks! If you don't mind, could you fill us in on the alignment specs that you are running. Thanks

Very "tidy" looking.

Looks good! Looks like they have copied the carousel from the Nurburgring Nordschliefe on this track.

Sam Strano 08-10-2012 02:52 PM

It is a copy of the corner at the Nurburgring... Remember this is not on actual R-comp tires, but tires I drive on the street and that cost about $150 each.

As for specs. Well, this is where things get a little more sticky. When I develop setups for cars I can't just give away all the information. When I try I get circumvented in some way when folks get what they need, then run off to buy parts wherever. Having said that, I don't hide things really. I am quite open, but if you want that kind of information I have to ask you call me and when it comes times for some stuff to remember the kind of information I have and gave ya. It's just too easy for people to take what they hear on the net and run, it's not a person to person exchange. I hate that, and if I'm going to spend time giving out information I need to know you are serious enough about my time to take some of yours to call me. :) Does that make sense? Seems 50% of the folks get it, and 50% get pissed about it. :(

Makes perfect sense...ring ring...Sam pick up the phone!

Sam Strano 08-10-2012 07:21 PM

Hey Mike-- hope it was worth the call back. :)

I probably should point out that I do work alone and I'm often not able to pick up every phone call. Please leave me a message if you don't get me, and I will do my best to call you back as soon as I can. Though that can take some time. :( You guys can feel free to keep trying, and that's usually the best way to get me sooner than later.

How's the big front bar development coming?
