Stiff Shifter in Neutral

I'm having an issue on my brz. The car is a 2013 with 85k miles. This just started recently. When I am in neutral the shifter does not wiggle like it used to. It has gotten to the point where I can push it to the right inbetween 5/6th gear and it will kind of just stay there. I have to physically move it back to the middle. It is stiff going to first and second as well but will spring back to the middle but not like it used to.

The car goes into gear fine when I get it over to that gear.

Could it be the springs or the metal plate that's right below the shifter?

I reckon that would be a good place to start. The plate is easy enough to adjust and those springs are not too expensive and easy to replace.

Pull the boot off and see if anything is interfering.
