New OEM clutch, weird feel

I replaced my original clutch through dealer with OEM clutch. I have been driving it for over 10k miles so I am sure it has been broken in.

Not sure if this is normal but the new clutch feel and behave very different which I have never experienced with original clutch.

There is rattle noise when I slowly release clutch at low rpm vs original clutch would just grab and go.

When the dealer replaced the clutch system, did they resurface/replace the flywheel, replace the pressure plate and most importantly replace the TOB with the NEW improved TOB?

IF they did all that, you may consider adjusting the clutch and bleeding the clutch system - :iono:

how many miles were on your clutch? the Flywheel needs resurfacing or replacing with a new clutch or you will almost certainly get chatter on takeoff

Take it back to the dealer and express your concern.

Based on my record and paperwork, the dealer did following:

thermostat, clutch w/ pressure plate & throw out bearing, resurface flywheel, spark plugs, engine valve spring (recall)

Well, OK, it seems to me you have a couple of options (short of tearing into it), that is to take it back to the dealer and see what they have to say or adjust and bleed the system - :iono:

Does it just produce a rattling noise or can you feel it in the pedal?

If you can feel it i'm betting they didn't resurface the FW, or not well.
Very few dealers have the equipment to do it properly, most either don't bother (and replace the FW) or they use a nearby machine shop.

Could just need to wear in a bit. Mine felt weird with about the same symptoms for a couple of days after it was changed but then leveled into normal.

It’s just the noise, according to google, people relate the noise to not giving enough gas at low end. But I have been driving this car since day 1 with over 100k, I know how the car behave.

FYI, dealer is very unlikely to do anything because it’s been so long since the service and i initially thought it was more of a break in problem.

For those who are curious, it was the Larry Miller Toyota in Corona. After my oil change, my car also had a leak because they didn’t replace the washer.

I’ll take a look into bleeding the system and if that fail, replacing the flywheel
