Can I delete my Instagram Account and Data associated with it ?

Hey guys!
Seriously it is very much annoying to know that your data is being sold and used by millions of companies just to target you with their advertisements.
I have deactivated my account, I also knew my data that is being used had so many private conversations, and I’m feeling sick now.
I have deactivated it, but don’t know that following these steps and procedures will definitely remove my whole data from the internet or not? However I followed these steps but did not know whether it will help me delete my account or not, as more or less every guide shows the same steps.
In knowing that after deactivation, I can log back in any time, it means my data is still there when deactivated, so the chances are that when I delete my whole account my data will still be there.
Because a security researcher has discovered a massive cache of data for millions of Instagram accounts, publicly accessible for everyone to see. The account included sensitive information that would be useful to cyberstalkers, among others. As per study that I have read
Reference to the news.
Due to such news I am much more concerned with the data that I post/we post online, so are there any ways around to remove it.
Like I want to delete my Instagram account and facebook account too, however I have deactivated them for the time, till I get the proper solution to this.
Your thoughts?

The irony of asking this on a forum that probably has even less security than the social networking sites does not escape me!

Opie 04-13-2020 12:09 PM

Spammer...2 posts?

Spuds 04-13-2020 12:10 PM

His other post is this one. Lol looking for clicks maybe? Not gonna even look.

I actually thought this was a VPN ad/spam or something. I didn't click on the links at all.

I don't have FB or IG or anything except a few forums, so I wasn't too interested in the topic, TBH.

Account only 2 posts, and drives a corolla. This should be deleted, or at very least remove the links in original post.

Yep. As always the very first thing I do when something like this comes up is check the other posts. Be interesting to know that as a "writher" he did indeed write what he is referencing. I did not click links either.

Guessing you're a bot, because as with any social media account these days it's literally common sense to press the settings button, scroll to where it says account/delete account, and delete.

You can't take back your virginity and the same goes for that you can't take back whatever you put online. It belongs to ALL OF US now.

Thomas Reynold 06-12-2020 11:24 AM

I don't know why, but you all started saying me a spammer?
I quoted what I saw, that's all I said,
I am not a tech guy so that's why I posted a similar question to another forum as well and got a positive response because I wasn't a newbie there.

Stop quoting me, or my first post, or what I drive, that's kind of something hate speech, you guys are doing with me.
Well doesn't matter: you can delete that post because I got my answer from other sources.
Thanks for making this a ruined thread. @all

Tell me one thing, a new guy in the forum can't own corolla?
or should I show you my assets?

alphasaur 06-12-2020 11:35 AM

Delete your internet and never return

Well let's see here...
Show up on a car forum driving something else. Nothing wrong but looks weird.
First post claim to be a freelance writer. Pretty bad writing though (as highlighted). No comments on the car the forum is for at all.
Second post is a totally random subject that the answer could be found in 20 seconds anyplace on the internet.
Post contains links to items that are the very definition of spam. These links had to be removed by a moderator.
Come back two months later and call us out for responding to your bullshit spam post and call us haters? You were really concerned weren't you?
Easy solution is to just not log in. You managed to go two months without doing it.

Here we go.
1/ You would if you read the rest of this thread.
2/ Not all.
3/ Is that a statement or a question?
4/ I won't mention the comma that's supposed to be a full stop and I like my contradiction.
5/ Mmmm... I'm not sure how you're going to do that.
6/ THIS makes me laugh and be sad at the same time. I'm suggesting we have differing opinions on what constitutes hate speech.
7/ This sentence is poorly constructed and its meaning is somewhat vague.
8/ All the posters in this thread so far are not administrators so we cannot delete this thread.
9/ Ruined? Mmmm...I have been enjoying reading this thread.

Welcome to a public forum.

Captain Snooze 06-12-2020 11:39 PM

With apologies to ABBA.

No more carefree laughter
Silence ever after
Walking through an empty thread, tears in my eyes
Here is where the posting ends, this is goodbye

Quoting me, quoting you
There is nothing we can do
Quoting me, quoting you
"I quoted what I saw", this time we're through
Spamming threads is never easy, I know but I have to go
Quoting me, quoting you
It's the best I can do

who ever came up with the moronic idea that the public should have an opinion that runs counter to my own?

Get off your snowflake high horse. Hate speech? Really? Are you that sensitive that you have to label that has hate speech? Get real.

Your spam is greatly appreciated. It keeps us entertained even when it has been removed.

This is too simple. They already have his data! They already know his friends and likes and everything. His only hope isn't to delete his account, but to morph his account slowly into an alternate reality that doesn't reflect him at all.

He needs to slowly unfriend his true friends and add strangers. He needs to share photos of his disinterests. He needs to change his information to something fictional. He needs to create alternate, fake Instagrams that are fan pages of his main page. He needs to Photoshop his head on as many different celebrities and popular images to confuse the algorithms.

He needs to do all this with a tin foil hat on, preferably in a dog pen to act as a faraday cage.

Being tasked with ruining this thread is kind of like being asked to make vomiting unpleasant. You can't really ruin something that starts out awful.

soundman98 06-21-2020 02:04 AM

Pandora's thread. If we had stayed on the original topic, would the rest of us have cared any more or less than we already did?

Your thread isn't really ruined till humfrz tells a long assed back in the day story that is barely relevant - :eyebulge:

We gotta be careful. This guy will claim hate speech and harassment. Then publish a book about online PTSD.

I think "publish" and "book" might not be the best way to describe the outcome.
