Coilovers for winter + daily drive
 

I'm looking for coilovers that will work fine in winter and comfortable for daily drive. I've heard about KW basically being corrosion and rust proof, not sure if they're suitable for daily driving or which variant is better. I don't have a set budget as I rather save up, so I'm open to other brands as well. Thanks

Any coilover is likely to experience some corrosion and seizing if driven on in extreme winters......salt, snow, ice, etc.

If you experience the above mentioned weather, I'd recommend getting coilover covers and using those, at a minimum, in the winter.

My line of thought goes like this.
In winter no need for stiff spring rates to counter any roll on sticky tires, due grip levels being very very low. And roads might be worse, so softer rates will net extra road compliance/comfort.
Extra ground clearance also will be helpful to not get stuck in deep snow.
And your mentioned construction points to stand well against salt and dirt. Though might be replaced by lower cost, so that it's cheaper to replace.
Summarizing it all, i'd think of something like bilstein B6 struts with stock springs. Stock height, relatively cheap, not over-stiffened.

Get ISC coilover socks. Put them on at the same time I installed my coilovers. The car just went through its 4th winter

Kw spring rates are pretty soft and their spring perches are plastic so slightly more corrosion proof than most coilovers with metal perches. They also use oe top hats which will further help with DD/longevity.

KW V1 and V3 also have lifetime warranties for the original purchaser, so if they were to fail, you would have a potential remedy.

Cool nice to know. Do you know if V1 is better for DD than V3?

No idea, but since you just want to drive around town odds are you'll never want to play with damper settings so save your money and get the v1s.

I would say it depends on your use.

The V1 is height adjustable, but not damping adjustable.

The V3 is height adjustable, but also damping adjustable......both rebound and compression.

Some might argue that the V1's are good for the street and the V3's should be used on the track, but ultimately it depends on the owner.

Personally, if daily livability is your primary concern (and rust prevention is a factor) then I'd look no further than the Bilstein B14 or B16.

I see winter too. I am likely going with RCE yellows and B6, when the stockers give out.
