What is the best clutch on the market right now?

So in my previous post, I was talking about how I can’t go into gear sometimes, specifically 1st, 3rd, and 4th. Well now the issue is getting worse and I am looking for another clutch replacement. If you guys are curious on what kind of clutch I’m running right now it’s the ACT heavy duty performance street disc. The model number is ACTSB7-HDSS. Also on my other post, some people were saying that ACT is kinda known for having issues with their clutches, at first I didn’t want to believe them. But I am now seeing it. It hasn’t even been a full year that I owned this clutch. This is pretty ridiculous.

if you don't track the car, the general consensus is that you don't need anything more than a street or stock performance clutch.

Yeah, I don’t plan on tracking the car. It’s my daily right now. I just want to know what people are running on theirs.

The one it came with from the factory seems to have worked pretty well for me for the last 7 years.

Yeah I was thinking of the “exedy oem replacement clutch kit” because that one is pretty much oem

All that money to circle around to "pretty much OEM". Why not actual OEM?

I bought OEM parts to freshen mine when replacing the failing throw out bearing, no issues. You'll save a few bucks on the exedy kit vs oem but they're a little sloppier on the qc to do it so there might be a bit of noise vs. stock. Should function fine though.

Edit; it's not track duty that requires a stronger than stock clutch, it's excess torque, it should be totally fine for track duty. My clutch is happier being on track than being stuck in traffic.

I second Exedy oem replacement. If you don't plan to do more than a few track days, it's good enough.

I just want something reliable tbh.

Seems OEM might be better than Exedy "good enough". Spend more money, OP!

jordanaintshittt 04-07-2020 11:24 PM

Yeah I’m gonna look into oem.

I was under the impression the Exedy WAS the OEM clutch?

WNDSRFR 04-08-2020 09:10 AM

The OEM IS Exedy.
