Hey forum, I asked this question on a few supra forums and let's just say the supra forums are perfectly explained by this graphic -----> :reposthorse:

So I have narrowed my choice down to 2 Mk3 Supra's, both with pretty unique modification and attributes. PRICE IS IDENTICAL. Let's start:

Supra #1: 1988 Supra MK3 T-Top (170k on ODO, 50k on built engine) (WHITE)
Mods List: engine: 7mgte (built)
JE pistons
Eagle rods
Greddy MLS head gasket
Garrett GT35 dual ball bearing turbo
HKS S/S racing wastegate
Fluidyne radiator w/ upper aluminum hard pipe plis twin electric slim fans
Fidanza cam gears
Gates racing timing belt
Cx racing exhaust mani
Cx racing fmic kit
4in k&n turbo intake
AEM standalone ecu
Apexi AVCR boost controller
AEM wideband
Driller/slotted rotors with new pads
30 row oil cooler
55w 6k HID
Shine auto spec G front lip
89+ bumper, wing, jdm tailight conversion
IS300 coil pack conversion
255 fuel pump w/ 880cc injectors
Megan racing fuel pressure regulator
Rota p45r bronze 18x9.5 wrapped in hankooks 285 on the rears
Grey leather interior
No heater or A/C
R154 tranny w/ ACT 6 puck unsprung clutch

Cons of Supra #1: NEEDS TO BE SMOGGED and with this setup might be impossible to get back to stock, Interior is in bad shape, 7MGTE and although it's built doesn't have much room to grow like the JZ engines.

Supra #2: 1991 Supra MK3 T-Top (158k on ODO, 60k on 1jz) (RED)
engine: JDM 1jz
front mount inter cooler
K-sport coil overs
MB weapons with Michelin pilot super sport 255 all the way around

Cons of Supra #2: JDM engine maybe difficult to find parts, car is SMOGGED for another year and a half so I will be able to swap a beater 7mgte engine and get it smogged, has a blown head gasket that costs around $300 to replace and will take me a day to fix.

PICTURES: White is Supra #1, Red is Supra #2

Thanks in advance! :thanks:

Sorry forgot to mention they are almost identical in price. At the moment Mk3's stock are going for around $3000-4000, so these modified are going for around 5-8k.

Not to shabby.

I vote #1.
A properly built and maintained 7mgte will be just as good as a 2jz.

Go on supramania.com and do lots of research. More geared towards mkiii supras there and its not like supraforums at all.

Let me know if u want more info i've been in the mkiii supra game for about 7 years now.
My built 7m makes over 400whp @ 12psi.

Man that's a tough choice, I see your problem.

Looking at the white one and the mod list i was going to say #1 all the way. But on the other hand 1JZ. White car looks HOT, red car is...red.

If you're just going to drive it, get the white one. If you have tons of mods planned then the red one is a better platform.

oh and FYI 1JZ is not hard to find parts for at all.
Super common swap here in the states and many 2jz parts are interchangable.

Just stay away from anything with a BHG or history of BHG.
The aluminum heads, especially in the 7m when overheated can become annealed (soft) and cause all types of issues if not replaced.

Yes exactly there's nothing wrong with the 7M, I personally love the 3L roar and it's proven better torque down lower in the RPMs. I believe the 7M is at 12 PSI making between 350-400 at the wheels. The 1jz is making around 320 at the crank, so there's quite a difference.

Top down summa cah.

But really, it's up to you if you want someone else's project (1) or a car with somewhat minimal mods (2) that you can truly make your own.
