Simple Safety Upgrade (3rd brakelight pulse)

I have added this to my last two cars and have found it to be very effective.

any videos of this in action?

hmmm im pretty sure its illegal to have flashing red lights, brake light or not. I would ask a friendly official before this one. It would suck to be at a light waiting and a cop pull up behind you and then pull you over for it.

Dealers over here in Texas add this onto cars as an option. Scion especially...

I wonder if it's actually effective?

No, no, no, no... NO!!! I hate those frickin' things!!! Safer? Hardly. When I have the misfortune to be behind one of those, they confuse the hell out of me, because it takes me a moment to translate "flashing red lights" into "braking." It seems like the car in front is merely tapping his brakes, or futzing around somehow, rather than coming to a hard stop. Came WAY too close to rear-ending a guy who had that system in conjunction with blacked out taillights.

Those flashing brakelights systems exist solely as something dealers can add on for a quick buck, knowing people will pay for it because "it's extra safety." Don't buy into it, and for the love of god PLEASE don't use them either! :mad0259:

Cheers for link!

Apparently illegal in Australia but cant confirm......

I will be removing the 3rd brake light completely for more vision out the rear window and attaching this to the fog light under the rear plates to aboid being rear ended...

Probably not these ones though as i dont feel they are rapid enough from what i can see on the website

That's illegal too, hence why the standard brake light is so high. It must be over a certain height for visibility for following drivers.

Yeah i think it has to be anywhere at or above height of L/R tail lights...

Have u got a link though to confirm?

I wouldnt consider getting flash if i was not removing existing 3rd light but with Aero u cant see anything out the rear window...

Removing the 3rd light is apparently illegal as welll for everyone in Australia's FYI...
