Wiring advice for interior lighting

Hey everyone,

I was planning on installing some additional interior lighting. It requires 110 volts of power if that affects your advice. I was planning on tapping the fuse box and just plugging it in there because that honestly seemed the easiest. Then I saw some people recommend against that as they said it can overwork the fuse box. I saw some people cut the sores that go to the cigarette lighter and attach it there. That is another’s option. What do you guys think would be the best way for me to go here. If you have any other ideas, I’m open to that as well.

Thanks in advance!

Hmmm . . . 110 volts is what an electrical outlet in the house provides.
This is not something to be used in a vehicle.

Perhaps you meant 110 watts?
What kind of lighting - LEDs?

Yeah. Some fiber optic leds. The product descriptions said 110 volts and 16 watts. It is made for cars and here is the link on amazon.

Okay. The device itself runs on 12 volts DC. Car power. It can be run on a 110 volt AC to 12 volt DC adapter. So, it can be used that way in the house.

Do you realize that to install this you have to drop the headliner, punch a bunch of holes in it, and then run the optical fibers from the headliner to the place where the light source is located?

The device draws 16 watts of power.
P=IV
16 = I x 12
I ~ 1.4 amps
This isn't much current draw in a car.
You could use almost any fuse in the panel to run this.
One of the smaller fuses would be best, probably no more than 10 or 15 amps.

To each his own, but I don't think I'd mess up a perfectly good headliner that way. :iono:

Yeah. I understand that it may not be a popular decision, I wanted to recreate the rolls royce stars. This is probably some immature youth right here and killing resale value.

Anyway, I really appreciate your input.
