Bumper Repair Advice
Hi, all. I had an unfortunate run-in with some highway debris and got some minor damage on the top of my bumper.
https://i.imgur.com/3NMfwBY.jpg https://i.imgur.com/dMWBASS.jpg It looked to be some sort of metal square and has essentially pushed the paint up and left small gouges. The top picture has some streaking, but that cleaned off. I'm really just dealing with those three small holes. I'm pretty new to this and don't know the process that would go into getting this fixed. The first place I've checked quoted me about $650, which would involve removing the bumper, stripping the clear, removing paint from that section, sanding, repaint, and reclear. Does this sound to be the only way to do this? I'm not crazy about removing the front more than is necessary. Thanks in advance! |
what level of repair is acceptable to you? classic car 1st place trophy? 'looks good from 5ft'? 'looks good from 10ft'?
personally, i'd use a new razor blade to cut down the parts sticking up, and i'd leave it. but i'm a 'looks good from 5ft' kinda guy. i've currently got at least 6 rock chips in the front of my car that are at least as large as the 'damage' in those pictures. |
Yup. Cut the frayed bit off. Wash the car. Prep the wound with some isopropyl alcohol on the end of a q-tip, and then use a Dealership paint-code touch-up applicator. Although I have no idea how to go about getting a hold of isopropyl alcohol in these trying times. :/

Sorry for the super-late response, you two. Thanks for the feedback!
Gonna try touch-up paint for now and then revisit a respray in a few years. |
