I redlined my gt86 on startup
I accidentally redlined my car when it was cold but the thing is that I did it on startup I mistaken the gas pedal with the break
Did I do and damage to the engine? It doesn't make any strange noises it looks fine to me |
Fucked it up... Wait a minute, you say "it doesn't make any strange noises.." that's really bad as in normal mode it sounds like a tractor...
|
Should be fine since it was only one time.
|
Wouldn't sweat it. No load, only over a few seconds, if anything important was to break you would know by now.
What's weird, however, it that the engine should not start when you're cranking with the throttle fully depressed. Did you have the throttle pedal on the floor? |
Yes all the way, full throttle
|
Redline is as far as the car can go before the fuel cut off kicks in. It is not the engine explosion mark. The engine can rev much higher without damage.
Starting and hitting redline is not a problem unless you are at temperatures well below freezing. I highly doubt the temperatures there are that low. Even then one redline rev won't likely hurt a thing. It is fine the engine is not made out of glass so stop worrying about it. |
Just don’t make that mistake when you’re in gear. Then you’ll cause some real damage.

I would start looking for another new engine or car for that matter. :bonk::bonk::popcorn::popcorn::laughabove: It's fine. Don't make a habit of it. That's all. If you are worried about go to any dealership or mechanic, tell them what you did and be prepared to see two outcomes. 1. They would laugh at you. 2. They will rape your wallet, just to make sure you didn't hurt anything. |
If it's not TOTALED....
surely it will BUFF OUT... |
if you didnt immediately break something theres a 99.9999% chance its fine, dont overthink it
