Front Pipe

Looking for a new front pipe, been chasing down an exhaust leak and it always seems to come back even after rtv sealant, feel like it’s time to scrap the front pipe and just buy an aftermarket one. That being said I have UEL catted headers and a Perrin 2.5” catback exhaust which is nice and deep without the drone or rasp. Any suggestions as to what front pipe will minimize the douchebaginess and drone while maximizing boxer sound?

According to my research mufflers/resonators reduce rasp while helmholtz resonator reduces drone, if you buy new front pipe choose one double resonated or catted/resonated, JDL ultra quiet, Apexi, HKS, Fujitsubo, Invidia etc some of the known!
I bought the cheap Berk one for the HFC it has, plus I ordered a 10" cheap resonator to weld it in the end of it, will see...

You'd probably want the HKS Dual Resonated Front Pipe.

I’ve seen lots of people complain about the quality of their welds, and lots of cases where it has cracked. Have they updated it since then? How does it compare to the JDL Ultra Quiet?

I have seen people having issues with welds here, but not met anyone that has had issues with it personally. I think its similar to the JDL ones you can also try the Invidia resonated front pipe. If you have the money you can go for the JDL one or the Fujitsubo, i just dont think the price is worth it.

Alright then, probably gonna go with the HKS one, maybe hear some more pops and bangs as a result of decatting

probably wont get too much pops and bangs since your header is catted. You could try a catless front pipe like the Tanabe front pipe which is pretty cheap and its a good brand. That may give you pops and bangs, but it also depends on the tune as well.

I have HKS DR FP with stock header. I have never heard any pops or bangs even with FI

I do get the occasional pop or burble when downshifting. Not super aggressive but still enough to put a smile on my face. I have a full exhaust system with an aftermarket UEL header

I’m not expecting anything crazy just a bit more noise and the occasional pop here and there that I get right now. I feel like increasing the flow from decatting my front pipe will make it pop a bit more

1320 dual resonated front pipe is good and cheap too. I hear a lot of bad stories with hks front pipe having cracked welds...

ayoshioka1 02-05-2020 08:24 PM

want more loud? get a catless front pipe.

want more loud and boxer sounds? get an UEL header.

want more pops and bangs? go to a shitty tuner, he'll take care of you.

Heard bad stories about 1320 fp having fitment issues and poor customer service as well.

Still stressing over which dual fp to get.

Since I have stock catted header I guess, I have no pops with HKS DR FP. But, I specifically checked today, there is a slight crackle when I release the throttle under acceleration. But it is heard only when the windows are down.
