Engine rattle, drivers side engine bay.
Hi All,
I drive a 2013 FRS that underwent the notorious J02 recall in March of last year. I’ve driven 12,000 trouble-free miles since the recall was performed, along with a new serpentine belt, spark plugs, and some other 60k maintenance items. I bought the car in 2016 with 26k miles and have since had the trans replaced at 27k and the fuel pump at 50k. Regular oil changes swapping between 5w30 in the summer and 0w20 in the winter. I now have a very loud and apparent rattle on the drivers side of my engine bay that has me worried. No codes, no stalling, or any drivability issues so far. I can hear it faintly in cabin while driving, and it sounds like a a bit like a typewriter when I roll my window down driving alongside a concrete median. I’m taking it to the dealership shortly, but I thought I’d start a thread and see if anyone has experienced a noise like this. Video: https://i.imgur.com/0h3oV2w.mp4 |
I don't have that going on, in fact I feel like it sounds better once it's warmed up and is generally pulling better than it was but that could be the new plugs. What I do have is a persistent ugly rattle for a second or two on warm startups. My confidence is wavering and it sucks because in a week I need to take it on a 3k mile road trip.

mine does this too, its just the injectors. you took the stock shrouds off and they have sound deadening in them. without that they are very easy to hear
